Wouldn’t it be nice to spend one semester in Disney World? For Marietta College junior Dan Bratton it’s what he always wanted.

Bratton is participating in the Disney College Program this fall. This is an internship program designed for college students who need to fulfill an internship for their college and take college credits at the same time. The program offers classes in your respective major and provides you with a paid job in your major’s field. Housing and bus transportation is also provided.

Bratton who is an economics major has a job description as a vacation planner, which consists of working at a ticket booth selling tickets and packages. “People come up to the booth and don’t know what they want to do so I help them decide what package works best for them,” said Bratton.

Some of the classes he will be taking are marketing yourself, human recourses management, and an independent study on environmental issues in the state of Florida.

Bratton started working Aug. 23 and will finish Jan. 2. The only down side to this whole experience is he will not be able to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. “It’s hard to imagine Christmas not at home but in the long run I will really enjoy this experience,” said Bratton.

Some of the perks of working for Disney are that Bratton gets free admission to the park, and live in the warm Florida sun for a few months. “I really enjoy it… It’s fun and a lot like college with a nice apartment and free use to all the different parks,” said Bratton.

Bratton’s favorite ride is Splash Mountain and in his free time he joys playing golf and hanging out with his fellow roommates.

After Disney Bratton will return to Marietta College for the spring semester and continue his studies in economics and rejoin his fellow teammates on the rowing team.
