Marietta College Statement on the Loss of Caleb White

Good afternoon,

I am very sorry to tell you that Caleb White, a senior petroleum
engineering major, died yesterday from injuries sustained in a
motorcycle crash.  He had been hospitalized for two weeks, and some of
his faculty and fellow students had had an opportunity to visit him.
Caleb was from the local area, and served in the Coast Guard Reserve in
addition to being a full-time student. I know each of you joins me in
sympathy to Caleb’s family and friends.  The loss of a young person so
full or promise is a difficult one for all of us, and I urge any of you
who need to talk to feel welcome to call the counseling center at
extension 4477.  We will let you know when we have information about
services.
