Gilman Note
All campus food services will not be open for dinner tonight. Â Instead, the campus is sponsoring an all-campus BBQ for all students in the Kremer Amphitheater from 5 PM to 8 PM. Â Enjoy food and fun outside of the Legacy Library as you reconnect with old friends and prep for the first day of classes.

China Chronicles: Part 2
I have waited far too long to continue documenting this! So much has happened since that early morning, including getting internet in our room! Fortunately, I’ve been waking up later and later. These past few days have been very tiring (and exciting.) The very first full day here was exhausting and informative, we went out for breakfast and had dumplings (yay,) soy milk, fried dough, among other things and everything was delicious. Once back we had a “health and safety†meeting. Followed by setting up our internet, a neighborhood tour, and lunch at a local restaurant. The place specialized in porridge. A lot of people in the group loved it, but I think it may be the one thing I’ve liked the least. Mel had the cold mango porridge that I did enjoy though, but I don’t think I could eat for a meal! Lunch was followed by, yes, more meetings. And from there we went to dinner at the conference center and meet our Chinese teachers for the first time! At this dinner I was also given my Chinese name! Åu KÇŽi TÃnÉ¡. Ou, from Oden, also means Europe. Kai means victory/triumph and Ting means graceful. I’m really pleased with it.
I still have the 12th (placement test, subway, and clubbing) and 13th (class, dinner on our own) to write about but I must go and get ready for the day!
p.s. I miss everyone in the states like whoa!
