Bored? Riverfront Roar is This Weekend!
If you’ve checked the Writing on the Mall Calendar page lately, you’d see a lot of upcoming Marietta events. Â Including this weekend’s Riverfront Roar.
The Riverfront Roar is a series of high-speed boat races up and down the Ohio River, and takes place on the Levy just like Sternwheeler. Â There are plans for plenty of music, food, drinks, and racing, so check out the website for the schedule of a events. Â The event is free to attend and takes place all this weekend down at the Levy by the Lafayette Hotel.

Happy Independence Day!
From all of us at Writing on the Mall (Patrick, Danette, and Melissa), we would like to wish each and every one of you a Happy Independence Day to you are your family. Â Enjoy a day of cookouts and fun in the sun. Â The weather is absolutely perfect for most of the day (chance of showers and thunderstorms at 30% in the evening hours) so get out there and enjoy it!
Fireworks in Marietta are at 10 PM at the Fairgrounds. Â $5 admission to get into the grandstand area.
Fireworks in Akron are downtown at Lock 3. Â $5 admission to get in the Rib, White, and Blue festival area

Super Bowl Party Time
I hate the Steelers (yes, I am a Browns fan, get over it).
But, I can’t wait to go watch the Cardinals whoop on the Steelers (hopefully) tonight. And I’ll be doing it with all the other people heading over to the Gathering Place tonight.
IFC and CUB are co-sponsoring a Super Bowl Party at the G-Spot starting at 6 PM. We’ll have about 300 wings there, along with tons of pizza, and of course, unlimited drinks of the non-alcoholic type. The game will be on all the TV’s (including the giant screen), and all of the usual G-Spot activities will be available for use (including pool, foosball, and the new arcade machines that they installed). The fraternities will be bringing their cornhole boards and will have tables set up to inform male students about the positives of fraternal life at Marietta College. CUB will be bringing prizes to raffle off (mostly Steelers stuff, but I’m sure that most people in the area won’t mind that).
So, 6 PM tonight at the Gathering Place…be there or be square!
