Quick Hits
- Club MC Pictures are up on our Facebook Page. Â They will eventually reach Flickr (Once I find a spot that will allow me to upload to Flickr, since the college won’t allow me to. Â For some reason they have a content filter on uploading pictures to Flickr. Â Who knew?) Â So go check those out. Â There is a photo of every booth.
- Apparently parking for upperclassmen has been greatly reduced on campus. Â The story goes that all of the parking in front of the Gathering Place has been converted from mixed parking (Freshmen and Upperclassmen) to Freshmen only. Â While I haven’t investigated it too much, there is a Facebook group asking students to e-mail the administrators at the school to fix the problem. Â I’ll try to get some more info on the situation.
- The Charles Sumner Harrison Organization Icebreaker is tonight at the Gathering Place at 10 PM. Â Go enjoy the music, fun, food and drinks. Â The event is a Blacklight Party, so dress for the occasion.
- Blessid Union of Souls is tomorrow night at the Gathering Place. Â Everything starts at 8 PM, so get there early for the best seats.
- Today is Pioneer Pride Day! Make sure to wear your favorite Marietta College shirt today, and take a photo of yourself wearing it. Â Then send it to Tom Perry at College Relations to be included in the Pioneer Pride photo gallery.

Concert Series Begins On Campus
Apparently the college has decided to hold a concert series in the newly-christened Kremer Amphitheater this summer. Â Here’s the scoop directly from college.
June 29, 2009 — Marietta College kicks off the Kremer Amphitheatre Concert Series on Wednesday with a two-hour concert by the talented rhythm and blues artist Dav “Fathead” Davis.
“We invite the students, staff, faculty, their families and the Marietta community to this free outdoor concert in our new amphitheatre,” said David Travis, Director of Student Activities & Greek Life at Marietta College. “We had Dav ’Fathead’ Davis perform for our Coffee House Series during the academic year and he was probably the best musician I’ve heard in years.”
The Offices of Residence Life and Student Activities & Greek Life sponsor the Kremer Amphitheatre Concert Series.Â
Davis, who sings and plays the electric piano, will be accompanied by his band. The seasoned performer has been entertaining for more than three decades.
The concert will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Kremer Amphitheatre, which is located outside of the new Legacy Library. Travis said guests can bring blankets on which to sit and free sodas will be available to concert goers.
The second installment of the series features a performance by the Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Enchanted. That concert is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 29.
“We hope to draw enough of a crowd to these two concerts so we can expand the series next year to four performances,” Travis said.
Enchanted entertains throughout Ohio by playing a wide range of bands and singers from Evanescence to The Doobie Brothers and Pink to Journey. They are most known for their Fleetwood Mac tributes.Â
“Enchanted is also a very talented group of musicians and they really capture the sound of Fleetwood Mac,” Travis said.
In case of inclement weather for either performance, the concert venue will be changed to the Gathering Place, which is located on Marietta College’s campus at the corner of Butler and Seventh streets.

College Relations
It looks interesting, but it remains to be seen if the community will come, since the student body isn’t really around right now. Â But a good idea none-the-less. Â I’d like to see more things like this in the early Fall and late Spring.

Blood Drive Today…Give 'Til It Hurts!
If you have time to give blood today, stop by the Gathering Place. Â Greek Week is teaming up with the Red Cross to help get more blood to area hospitals. Â The blood drive is running through 4:30 PM today, so get there if you can.
I know some people will ask about this, so I’ll answer it now. Â They are looking for Double-Red donors. Â And the other inevitable question? Â All donors will receive flip flops (while supplies last).

Justice Coming to Marietta
Justice, a music duo from France, is coming to Marietta. I don’t know much about them, other than I do have one song from them, called “D.A.N.C.E.” It’s pretty good. They’re a club group, so be ready to dance if you go.
It’s Saturday night, starting at 8 PM. The night is co-sponsored by CUB and Charles Sumner Harrison Organization.

Super Bowl Party Time
I hate the Steelers (yes, I am a Browns fan, get over it).
But, I can’t wait to go watch the Cardinals whoop on the Steelers (hopefully) tonight. And I’ll be doing it with all the other people heading over to the Gathering Place tonight.
IFC and CUB are co-sponsoring a Super Bowl Party at the G-Spot starting at 6 PM. We’ll have about 300 wings there, along with tons of pizza, and of course, unlimited drinks of the non-alcoholic type. The game will be on all the TV’s (including the giant screen), and all of the usual G-Spot activities will be available for use (including pool, foosball, and the new arcade machines that they installed). The fraternities will be bringing their cornhole boards and will have tables set up to inform male students about the positives of fraternal life at Marietta College. CUB will be bringing prizes to raffle off (mostly Steelers stuff, but I’m sure that most people in the area won’t mind that).
So, 6 PM tonight at the Gathering Place…be there or be square!

Bernadette Pauley Coming to Marietta
Comedian Bernadetta Pauley is in Marietta Saturday night at 10 PM in the Gathering Place to entertain students as part of the Welcome Back Weekend festivities that CUB has been put together. If you’ve never heard of her before, she has been all over the place. According to her website, she has been on Raw Dog Comedy (on Sirius XM Radio), Comedy Central, VH1, and other shows/movies.
Check out a video of a set she performed and a clip reel after the jump.

Car Checks Until 3 PM Today
Hey guys, I know this is kind of late noticed, but this is pre-finals week, and things have been hectic.
If you have a car on campus, the Washington County Sheriffs, Campus Police Service, and local dealerships will be checking vehicles over on the side of the Gathering Place until 3 PM. Supposedly there will be food and freebies, so check it out if you get a chance.
The bonus of this is that you get a State of Ohio Vehicle Inspection Certification, which is good for the next year. It can be helpful to have in many situations.
If any problems are noted, they will let you know what needs fixed and where you can go to fix it with more major issues.
