Student Speak-Out Coverage TONIGHT!

Writing on the Mall will have full coverage of tonight’s Student Speak-Out.  The event begins at 7 PM in McDonough Auditorium,

Just like last time, we plan to have an updating stream of questions asked at the Speak-Out, plus photos and videos.  Our goal is to have some interviews with College administrators and Student Senate members to supplement our coverage.

If you can’t be at the event, but have a question you want answers, leave a comment to this article, or leave a comment on our Facebook Fan Page, or send a Tweet our way on Twitter.  Student Senate members will also be at Gilman tonight to take questions from those that will be unable to attend.

Looking at the event’s official Facebook page, there should be a large number of people present at the event.

At this point, the list of faculty and administrators that will be attending has not been released, but as soon as it is known we will publish it.

New MC Website Brings New Direction

As in new content that will be updated throughout the year. The new Marietta College website will actually be somewhere that students will want to visit.  The site launched with six feature articles, including the following:

The idea seems to be to incorporate the past, present, and future all into one nice package.  Visual appearance has improved greatly, with large images and prominently featured 175th anniversary logos.  Content is more easily accessed and easily added/updated.

According to a press release from Tom Perry, the Director of College Relations, we should expect anywhere from 4-8 articles a month, which should keep things fresh and interesting.

As a side note, we have been recognized by the college as a local news outlet, which is a huge step for us.  We will continue to provide a look at Marietta College from the student’s perspective.  Writing on the Mall is still a student owned and operated blog…just expanding our readership and promoting our wears.

Away For The Weekend

As it turns out, I will be leavin’ on a jet plane.  For the next few days, me and seven other Greek Leaders will be attending the Mid-American Greek Council Association Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.  Since Internet at the hotel we’re staying at will run $15 a day, odds are good I wont be able to update.  Tis a shame, since it is Little Sibs Weekend (oh, wait, you mean I get to miss Little Sibs Weekend? WOOHOO) and Relay For Life (6 hour edition this year, sadly).

Expect more random babblings when I get back from my trip…including a fun little article I’m working on discussing the fraud that is Vector Marketing (which has been heavily present on campus this semester).

WotM Updates…

Hello readers!

While Winter break has just begun, and will continue on until mid-January, I just wanted to let you know that things might be a bit slower here at WotM.

Being back home and away from the college makes it a bit harder to report about the area, so you’ll see maybe 3-4 posts here a week until I get back on campus.

Some other things to note…

At some point, the site will be upgraded to WordPress 2.7.  This will update security and add new features.

I have been hired to write for www.examiner.com.  I will be a College Technology reporter for their Cleveland page.  You should start seeing links here pointing to articles there once things get going with that endeavor.

Merry Christmas/Happy Haunakah/Happy Kwanza/Fabulous Festivous/Happy Holidays!
