TORNADO WATCH, SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN EFFECT

Guys and gals, be careful tonight. Severe weather isn’t something that happens often in Marietta, but tonight is one of those rare instances where it is.

Primarily, there is a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING in effect until 6:45 PM for Washington County and all other surrounding counties. The storm front is packing winds of up to 70 MPH and is moving East at 55 MPH. The storm has a history of producing large, destructive hail. Please seek out a secure structure if currently outdoors.

There is also a HIGH WIND WARNING that was activated earlier today and will intensify overnight. The warning is through 6 AM Thursday morning.

There is also a TORNADO WATCH that has been issued until 9 PM tonight. Current conditions are favorable for the formation of a tornado if things all line up correctly. There is currently a violent cold front driving through the area, which could create rotation. If a funnel cloud is spotted, please find the lowest level of your building (preferably a basement) or a room without windows.
